ON 6 June 2026 a new statue of Cecil Kimber was installed at the Morris Quad at New College. The Morris Garage was built in 1909-1910 as purpose built showrooms and workshops. It was here that many of the classic MG cars were designed and made. Cecil Kimber was chief engineer. The new statue is by Paul Day and depicts Cecil Kimber, Morris’s chief engineer, driving a car whose lifted bonnet shows a trompe-l’oeil race at Le Mans. MBA worked closely with sculptor and college to help site the statue, design the plinth and obtain the necessary consents.
