Oriel College, Oxford

Oriel College have commissioned MBA to carry out a master plan for the College. This follows a series of successful projects and studies for the College, and a Conservation and Management Plan carried out by our sister company Stow and Beale Conservation Architects.

The plan will build on the methodical assessment of the site and its history, and map the medium term needs of the College to its historic fabric, identifying opportunites for improved use, accessibility and sustainability.

Oriel was founded by King Edward II in 1326 and is one of the five oldest of Oxford’s colleges. The south and west ranges, including the gateway tower, were built 1620-1622 north and east ranges with the Chapel in 1637-1642. The buildings are grade I Listed, and comprise an amazing group survival from the eve of the English Civil War of 1642-1646.
