Since 1982 Barry Stow’s work has included historic building repair, the conservation of listed buildings, urban landscapes and World Heritage Sites, tourism development of heritage sites, housing and shelter strategies for developing countries. He co-founded The Conservation Practice in 1988, carrying out many major projects including the restoration of Uppark, Eltham Palace and St. Pancras Station Midland Grand Hotel, before becoming an independent consultant in 1999. Since 2002 he has worked with Marcus Beale Architects, advising on projects including Oriel College and New College, Oxford [Grade I], the conservation of Merton Priory, Harrow School and many smaller projects. He was a partner with Marcus Beale in Stow and Beale Conservation architects LLP from 2007-2012, and a director of MBA from 2012-2019 where he is now a Conservation Consultant. He also maintains his own workload and is Inspecting Architect for 8 historic London churches.
