Development of a distinguished brutalist mega-structure building by Fitzroy Robinson (1971-2) some 60-80 metres from the shrine of St. Alban, England’s first martyr, died c.301AD.

This proposal received planning consent in November 2002.

  • Phase I (image 1)
    created a new restaurant in place of three small shops on the eastern side (completed 2002).
  • Phase II (image 2)
    combines four shops – two on the High Street and two in Heritage Close into a single shop, and creates a new pedestrian staircase from lower ground to podium.
